8th IAP-Day
8th IAP-Day
The 8th IAP-Day was hosted by the CERMi (ULB) on April 27, 2016.
The day started with a meeting of the IAP-SOCENT promoters and other professors of the 4 research teams.
It was followed by a plenary session during which Panu Kalmi (University of Vaasa, Finland) presented a contribution (which he co-authored with SOCENT partner Simon Cornée, Université de Rennes 1, France, and SOCENT professor Ariane Szafarz) entitled: “Are Social Banks Really Different? Evidence from Europe”.
Three current research projects were then presented:
- “Capital Structure and the Value of Social Enterprise”, by Aleksandra Szymanska (VUB), Stijn Van Puyvelde (VUB) and Marc Jegers (VUB);
- “Differences in Governance Structures Among Cooperative, Non-profit and Shareholder-owned Microfinance Institutions”, by Muluneh Hideto Dato (ULB), Marek Hudon (ULB) & Roy Mersland (University of Agder, Norway);
- “Hybridity Under Tension: Beyond Inter-logic Tensions in Nascent Social Enterprises”, by Frédéric Dufays (ULg).
Finally, a panel on publication strategy was presented by professors from the four Belgian universities involved in the SOCENT programme: Benjamin Huybrechts (ULg), Marthe Nyssens (UCL), Roland Pepermans (VUB) and Ariane Szafarz (ULB).
